Candy Bouquet

Here is a really cute inexpensive gift. The items you need to make this are as follows:  a styrofoam block, hot glue gun, hot glue sticks, at least 8 regular size candy bars, 4 boxes of candy, tissue paper, craft sticks, and tulle(optional).  The directions are as follows: hot glue the four boxes of candy to the foam (one on each side), hot glue the candy bars on the craft sticks, push them down in the foam arranging them neatly as you do, and add tissue paper and tulle.  I didn't put any tulle, because this was for my brother-in-law. My husband thought the tulle was too girly for his gift.

Post It Present

Here is a project that is so easy and cute.  It is a post it holder You will need the following items to complete this project: a clear picture frame ( I bought mine for a $1 from Wal-Mart), a cute piece of scrapbook paper, post it notes, , rubber cement, ribbon, and embellishments if desired. It is really simple. Get a clear frame, cut a piece of scrapbook paper to fit it and insert it in it, stick the post it notes on the front( I used rubber cement to keep them in place), then add the ribbon to the top, and finally add your embellishment. It is cheap and cute!

Here is one that I made.

Here is some I found on another website that someone had made.

A Cute Father's Day Present

Well, father's day will be here before you know it. I hate waiting to the last minute to plan things or buy presents, so I have already started plannimg and buying the gifts for father's day. For mine and Jonathan's 5th anniversary in March, I got him something he had always wanted.  I got him a guitar, a left handed guitar (he is a lefty).  He had tried to pick around on right handed guitars, but it was too difficult for him to do.  He has been doing pretty good with his new guitar though.  I thought since he loves it so much, that Hughes and I would get him some "accessories" for his guitar for father's day.  Well, Hughes got him a personalized pick (Actually, he got him 20 of them, because you have to buy at least 20. They were still less than $25 including shipping) I ordered them from the website personalizedmall.com.  It is a great website. Lots of personalized items at reasonable prices. I think Jonathan is gonna love it. Now, I just have to find him the guitar strap I want to get him. I will post pics as soon as I find it.

Spring into Some Excitement

Well, we have had some excitement in our lives since Christmas really. Christmas Eve night is when we spent the first night in our house in Banks. In has taken a lot of getting use to, but I like it out there. Then we have had all of our holidays since then, and we have still managed to spend time with both families on the holidays.

Hughes' Easter Picture

We made sure even when it isn't a holiday that we go visit my family at least once a week. We may only get to see them for an afternoon, but many times we will spend an entire day with them or even spend the night (If we spend the night then we get to spend two days with them!) When we are down at my parents' house Hughes, Marilee (my niece), and Preston (my nephew) all have a ball together. Before Nana's big pool had warmed up so the kids could swim in it, they played in the water with the water hose.

Then they all three got in the little baby pool that Julie had, and they splashed around in it for a while.

It doesn't matter what they are doing, they always have fun when they are together. They love playing outside the best of anything!

Back in Banks, Jonathan and I decided to get a pool. It would be something that we could enjoy with Hughes, and we wouldn't have to drive all the way to my parents' house to get in a pool. When we got it put up out at our house, Hughes was so excited that he couldn't even wait for the pool to fill up before he got in.

Then the next thing we know, Hughes had a stomach ache. We took him to the doctor, and Dr. Roy decided to do an xray just because he was curious. Dr. Roy found that Hughes had swallowed something, and he couldn't tell what it was. He was afraid that it might be a button battery, so we had to rush Hughes to Birmingham to the ER at Children's Hospital.

After we sat there in the ER, the doctors looked at the xrays and determined that it was just a coin. They said that normal procedure was to just wait and see if he could pass it. They let us go.

Instead of going home that late at night (it was 10pm), we decided to stay in Birmingham and go shopping the next day. They next day we woke up, and we went to the Galleria. We shopped all day long! We took Hughes to Build A Bear and let Hughes build a monkey (he named it George). He wouldn't tote it, so his daddy did.

Daddy toting "George", Hughes' monkey!

Then we let Hughes go ride the train. He didn't want to leave the train. After we got him away from the train, every time he heard the train bell, he would hollar "twain"! We had fun though, and he did finally pass his coin; it was a penny!

Cherish Every Moment

Monday was a devastating day for the people of Pike County. Three precious lives were cut short in an instant, two of which I knew. I was on my way home from Dothan Monday Night at about 8pm when we came up on traffic stopped and a sign that said accident ahead. We could tell it was bad because the traffic was backed up so far. We were at the top of one hill, and all you could see on the top of the next one was blue lights. We turned around to take a detour, and I called my sister-in-law to see if she had heard anything about the wreck. She had. She told me it was Brittany Pugh and her baby, Shep. She told me Brittany, who was only 24,didn't make it. Shep, who was 13 months, had been airlifted to Children's Hospital in Birmingham where he later passed. At that very instant my heart got so heavy, and all I could do was pray.

I prayed then, and I am still praying now. I am praying for all family and friends of Brittany and Shep, but especially for the husband and father,Clint Pugh, that was left behind. I cannot imagine what the family is going through. I didn't know Brittany very well. I had several college classes with her, and I know she was so sweet. She was such a wonderful woman who loved her husband and child dearly. She always had a smile on her face. Knowing all of this, I know she and her precious son will be missed dearly. I know when we see a tragedy such as this happen, it makes you want to ask God why?

I know we aren't supposed to question God, but it is really hard not to. All we can do is pray, remember that all things happen for a reason, and remember that we are not promised tomorrow. With that said , remember to cherish every moment you have. I know since this has happened all I want to do is hold my son and my husband close. I want to cherish every second I have with them.

I know all of this is fresh on everyone's mind right now, and lots of people are cherishing each moment and praying. But in the days to come they will soon forget. I pray that no one fogets,. I know I will not. I will pray for Clint and his family today and especially in the days ahead. I pray that God will wrap his loving arms around this family and comfort them in such a way that only He can.

RIP Brittany Shepard Pugh and Shep Allen Pugh
